Colchester Hospital - Car Park 1

Hopeless rip off. I put my regards into the machine and it said it didn't recognize the number. So I put in that I had been there for 3 hours. It changed me 8 pounds. I thought that's expensive but better than a fine. Next week 70 pounds fine. I will not be paying it. The can take me to court if they wish.

Going ro trading standards. The car park accepted my card and I got receipt. My husband was suddenly in hospital with heart problems. It wasn't until I got a fine that I looked at the receipt for the transaction to be void .This was the receipt! I think this is a sly way of collecting revenue. I had sufficient funds so no reason why this hapoen but very sly as you believe the receipt to be the printout NOT transaction void for what reason ???? Should have 0 stars.

I wish ill will to anyone responsible to deciding charging people for visiting a hospital was a good idea and allowing it - all of them from Trust so called managers to the Health Secretary. '30 minutes free', what's the point, so badly run and designed it takes that to park up and get to the appointment. Avoid! If you can walk, find a suitable nearby place to park instead. I'm not paying you a penny more if I can help it.

Stayed on the 16th December 2021 for 6 hours, as it came time to leave all of the kiosks were covered with a sign saying parking is free all day and "not to worry" Now had 2 appeals unsuccesfully and looking at taking them to court 3 months down the line to avoid a £70 fine, Disgraceful

Same problems as above my visit was on sep 2021. Looks like nothing has change 2018/19 shame on you hospital management you need to sort this out!!!!

Typical machines breaking down and freezing, try to make you pay again. Shame on you Colchester Hospital for allowing a private company to take over. Should be free.

Terrible rip off.Wife shattered her femur,after nine days in Aldham ward a message at five o'clock in the evening to go and pick her up,parked at the entrance to the ward was told I had thirty minutes to pick her up from a wheelchair.fined four days later,appeal turned down. Preying on people's misfortune,disgusting.

Thought I’d been in the worst car park in Uk last year. Nooo! This takes 1st prize. What a ridiculous system. Probably have to go again early next year for Covid jab. Park in nearby road and walk!

Signs in the car park say "pay on exit". This, coupled with the fact that I couldn't see any payment machines made me believe I would pay at the exit barriers, but this was not the case. There was nowhere safe to pull over, so I went home and phoned the hospital. They told me where the payment machines are. I didn't want to go back into the car park having not paid for the first go, so I parked in the country park car park and walked up to the hospital. Sure enough, I found the payment machines in what I had thought was a bin store. I sincerely hope to not get a ticket for having left the car park the first time without paying. I feel like the lack of signage is a deliberate ploy to catch people out.

Absolute disgrace. An appointment on a Saturday with no one around. Never been before and had no idea I had to pay.

Parking Machines are dishonest, If your card is declined and you need to pay another way, The Machine should tell you this in BOLD LETTERS. Instead, I used contactless for £2 parking fee And a receipt appeared below. NO SIGN OF DECLINED payment....Now this gives you the impression you have paid, But Be Warned, in small print at base of receipt it says **transaction voided**card not charged. Now WHY give a receipt if I have not paid??? And as always, the people behind you wanting to pay before the next increased amount, Make you feel like you have to pay and go quickly. So receipt in hand, I thought I had paid, and secondly, If I had not paid, WHY DID The Barrier let me out???? Letter today , parking charge Fine of £70, (£35 if you pay quick, Appealing is a waste of time. I will never park at the hospital again. SOMEONE HAS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE THIEVING PARKING COMPANIES...

Shame you can't give this a zero star rating! Absolutely disgusted to receive a fine in the post today claiming I didn't pay for parking. Now i know why those machines don't automatically give a receipt! Didn't recognise my reg, inputted

I wouldnt even give this car park one star.. It took 45 minutes to find a parking space. Nearly missed my appointment. Not acceptable at all! I'd rather walk than have the stress of parking here.

My wife was in an ambulance and I just parked in the A@E car park in panic.On leaving there was no clear signage badly lit and the barrier just opened so I drove out thinking it was free.A day later I had a£70 fine through my letterbox.Absolute disgrace.Extortion of the worst kind.Wish I new who was responsible for this.

having not visited hospital for over 3yrs. I drove up to the barrier which opened automatically and also opened automatically on exit so i assumed there was no charge. It is stressfull enough going to hospital. At least with the old ticket method you could not exit car park without paying.Hospital staff as always fantastic. pity the parking is a ripp off

Please be aware when you come out to pay sometimes the machine's are not working and tapped off , says out of order free parking, well you will get a £70 fine in the post, so take a photo when you appeal, the parking company are just out to rip you off, even the staff car parks, staff are getting ripped off, you have been warned.

What a mess. I know it's difficult when building but I have an 86 year old Mother. That is very difficult to walk let alone on mud and mess. I think it might be a good idea to have free parking at the moment, as a kind thought for all trying to get parked in this mess. By the time we got to front door we then had to walk a long way to get to reception.

I have now received 3 parking charge notices and on appeal have been rejected. Now appealing with POPLA.Basically one of my cars is often not recognised by their system and I have to manually input registration and payment.Parking eye say I have not entered reg correctly or haven’t paid enough.When you know the machines tell you what rate to pay why would you even think about precisely how long you were looking for and waiting for a space before finally getting to park and in one case waiting at machine to pay as others were having the same problems.I was visiting more than twice a day and sometimes the system would try and charge me for a 24 hour period.Sort out your system before causing grief and upset to people already suffering with very ill people to visit.If there was an alternative I would NEVER use this car park again.Make a note of the time you enter regardless is my only advise. These are cowboys!

Car parking machine asked for £2 parking which I paid and have receipt for, and today I receive a fine in the post for £70? Sort your car park out this is disgusting. Car park is a total joke.

Vehicle reg not recognised by machines and wouldn't let me manually pay, then on exit barrier was open as was damaged. Called the hospital office who took a payment over the phone. He said i would of been issued a £70. Never any spaces in the car park neither.

My mother is a blue badge holder and is registered with the hospital . But was issued with a £35 fine for not paying for parking. Even though disabled parking is free! She didn't exit with a ticket because the barrier recognised her registration. Rip off carpark!

Car parks in Scottish hospitals are free. This hospital car park is awful.

Daylight robbery - this is totally outrageous. I have received two parking charges. No information on how to pay or where. Pay machines hidden behind builders hoarding. I thought the machines were broken as has happened in the past and exit barrier was broken off so I was able to drive out but should have been stopped. I am appealing and will take it all the way because this is disgraceful treatment of people who are either ill or dealing with family or friends who are ill.

No stars no clear signs and no ticket issued and also NO barrier on entry or exit not any clear signs that there is a charge as car park too small and other cars parked on grass and over walkways obscuring pedestrian right off way definitely grounds for appeal seeing as no loss to land owner

One star as no option for minus. Throughly disgusted poor signage and signage references October 2019, no ticket on entry, open barrier on exit. No information on how or where to pay. Now had a fine issued. You need to get your house in order before fining people. Absolutely disgusting.

21 Exactly same thing happened to me and my friend, no barriers, no ticket printed out to pay, today both my friend and I got fines, absolutely disgusted. Have appealed, how can you pay it never got ticket. I am very unhappy, took over 20 minutes to even find a space, cannot get in entrance to Hospital because of all the work, a complete rip off. If I could minus stars I would.

Same ratings from me. The car park is wide open with broken barriers. The entrances and roads closed due to building site, payment machines behind the building fences. Then you receive the penalty charge. WHO ON EARTH PLANNED THIS because it must have been planned to rob people off their money.

Absolutely discussed with the signage for the parking. My husband and I attend the memory Clinic situated at the entrance to the road into the hospital. Had not visited the hospital in over a year. On entering the carpark one barrier lay beside the road and we went through other barrier and I commented there was no ticket machine. Parked on left hand side of car park and noted the charges on small sign thinking they were quite reasonable. Left after two and a half hours, after receiving bad news, driving through the exit barrier....no ticket required and we commented that with all the building work the parking appeared free. Fine arrived a week later. We have never parked in a car park where a ticket was not given on entry or required on exit. Because of the clinic we attended we had no cause to go near the main entrance to the hospital where the only payment machines were situated behind hoardings. Barriers missing on entry an exit an also just lets you out on exit an the pay machines are some what invisible! Went to the a

Zero rate for me, the way it is run by CPP let's a good hospital down, the pay machines are hidden somewhere in the contractors boarding and the barriers are missing at both ends, giving the impression that it is free. Not so of course, just a good way of CPP to make money from issuing fines to hundreds of Patients, put more VISIBLE machines in or offer other ways of payment, like on the QE Bridge, oh no of course, fines are a huge part of their income and profit, shame on you.

Spent 20mins waiting to get into car park and park, then another 15mins to leave so much for the free half hour from entry to exit.....

What a joke. Took me 45 minutes to park as there aren’t enough spaces and missed my appointment. Still had to queue to pay. Not impressed.

Pure Theft.We pay National Insurance contributions most of our life.Why the charges in a hospital?

20mins to have a CT scan then 25mins in a queue to pay at the only machine working. Ripoff.
