Had valid ticket got sent a parking fine so I appealed and sent them a copy of my receipt from PayPal on the appeal it says charges will be kept at £54 into appeal has been looked into never heard anything back until I was hit with a bailiff fine of £160 and told that the company do not wish to look into my appeal

Would give no stars if possible. Paid for 2hrs on app in July. Got a notice this morning. Pictures of entering and leaving show literally 5mins before and after the expiry period. 5 mins grace should be reasonable to find a parking spot and park up or to leave bay and exit! What if I go in and decide not to park!! Will I get sent a notice then too. Judging by everyone's comments appealing appears useless.

I’ve come across this site whilst researching the activities of smart parking at this Havens bank site. I am a highway service manager for a nearby local authority and I have recently received a letter from debt recovery plus for an alleged infringement at this car park. It states that I have ignored previous letters, but I have not received any? I always keep parking tickets for exactly this reason and would have supplied any information requested, but I am now being told to pay £160 or go to court! Play purport to be members of the IPC and the BPA but after reading both of these organisations codes of conduct, I think smart parking’s MO contravenes said code of conduct? Has anybody here actually been taken to court? I have spoken to my legal insurance team and they are quite happy to back me if I decide to go down the Court route with this questionable company. I’ll keep you all informed

If I could give zero stars I would. It seems I'm not alone in receiving a hefty parking fine, despite having paid for a ticket on the day. Seems you have to literally leap out your car and buy a ticket the second you arrive, otherwise you have a whopping fine slapped on you. Infuriating how companies are able to get away with stuff like this!!

(Actually zero stars - don't deserve even one) DO NOT EVER PARK HERE!! I've received a debt collection notice from a parking charge in November and they want £160 from me. I know we paid for parking using cash as 4 people in the car distinctly remember it and the circumstances, and I also know they didn't send me the original fee collection letter which would allow me to pay £54 if I was in the wrong. I am currently asking for evidence that they sent the original letter and also what exactly the charge is for as they haven't given sufficient details to hold up a case. So far they've come up with a copy of a letter which could have been made at any point and an image of me entering and leaving, but nothing else. Unless you want to go through months of anxiety and mental health attacks, and battling a bunch of criminals who have nothing better to do than charge innocent people, then DO NOT PARK HERE EVER. These disgusting people do not deserve any more money!

Just received a parking charge £54 ,I paid £1 for 2hours &returned within1 Hour as shown on The camera ,unfortunately I did not keep the ticket as it was almost a month ago, I have appealed so I hope I get a response ,wont park there again ,will also get in touch with my M P Are they rouges?

Warning! Car park charges you the second you enter the car park, not from purchase of ticket. Meeting the needs of your young children prior to purchasing a ticket, for the length of time the car was parked and left unattended, results in a fine! Appeal ignored, utterly shocking !!

Stayed slightly over the time and got a PCN. Note that Smart Parking time your stay between driving in and driving out. The expiry time printed on the ticket is meaningless. I'll never park here again.

I advise you not to use this havens Bank Retail Park Car. Owned by Aviva Investors and managed for them by Smart Parking Ltd. I have got a £54 fine for doing little more than driving through. Looking at the reviews going back to 2017 buying a ticket is very similar to supporting Organised Crime! Like so many before me I am not brave enough not to pay this fine.

Awful car park. Entered my reg wrong and got a fine. Appealed, with evidence of my paid ticket, fine reduced but still have to pay. Disgusting behaviour. Puts people off using the facilities nearby.

Stay away. Got scammed by Smart Parking. 23/02/2022 paid for parking, got £3 reimbursed by Tenpin Bowling when playing with the kids, then received £54 fine two weeks later for unauthorised parking. Shame on both Tenpin Bowling and Exeter Council for allowing this practice to continue.

My husband thought due to so many signs that he had to use an app, he is in his 70"s and dosnt know how ( nor do I) he came back to the car and I went to machine and rang for a ticket, all this took time, left car park within the 2hrs BUT hadnt realised camera is from when you enter car park not when you actually park so received fine of £54 tried to appeal with no avail now have letter from debt collectors demanding £160!!!

Was told I had overstayed my hour and with photo evidence. I was shown leaving at exactly 1 min 7 seconds after the hour. Appealed and said I had to wait for a previous car to depart. Now told I hadn't paid!! Which I did, so what am I being fined exactly for. Think I'll await bailiffs. Not paying.

Me too. Grieving for loss of my dad took mum to the quay for a break. Paid correct amount and didnt overstay...their photographic evidence actually proves this. Letter received today 2 weeks after the event. Have just appealed and have evidence of my ticket. Will wait for their next step. I cannot afford the lesser amount and am sure legally they have to give the full 14 days from your receipt of the notice. Like others say...its not worth the risk parking here. It seems that innocent people are being shafted by this company. I will.be contacting watchdog.

Smartparking should be wound up by Government legislation ASAP. They constantly fine people by way of issuing PCN fines via a letter stating underpayment or overstaying for the time you pay for. Under NO circumstances pay the fine. Put pressure on local councillors and traders to force the landowners Aviva Investors to boot Smartparking Ltd into touch. They are scumbag fraudsters who make 75% of their profits from issuing fines. Read all of the reviews on Trustpilot etc and understand that you are amongst thousands of angry drivers who are sent threatening letters for offences they’ve not committed. DO NOT PARK THERE. Unless this company have stated that your time starts when you enter the car park, how can they charge you for something you haven’t yet got. Once I park in a bay and purchase a ticket , that is when my time starts, has anyone ever ignored this bunch of robbers?

Avoid at your cost. I wouldn't give any stars. Robbing bunch of cowboys. Appeal pointless. Smart Parking don't care about reviews either, just grab your hard earned money.

Unfortunately I have only read all the reviews above now and I fell into the same trap!!! Paid the £1 parking, stayed 1.5 hrs although the notice board said we could stay for 3 hrs and was fined £54. Fine says "paid for insufficient time" .Something is not right with all the above complaints as well. DO NOT Park there! - NOT even worthy a one star to get the review accepted.

People be warned do not use this car park it’s a smart car park and it’s a total rip off, I parked here in December paid for 3 hours parking whilst we went tenpin bowling. Returning back to car after 2.5 hours. Left car park, then 2 weeks later I receive a parking charge for £54 the only evidence they give you is a photo of your registration plate going into carpark and leaving. No proof of your ticket purchased or length of time shown. What a total rip off company. I have apleaded but not sure if I will have any luck. Be warned people. Stay clear....

Like many others it seems recently zapped by smart parking £64 early payment fine issued . Attended a music function on the Quay .Obtained ticket placed on car but unaware clock time was when recorded by the camera not the ticket machine . Spent 10 searching for a suitable spot to.unload heavy musical equipment . Paid for 3 hours but penalised for time not spent in a parking bay ! Am disgusted it is a legally allowed scam . No discretion given just intimidation .ECC may one day realise this will.effect businesses in the area as people stay away !

This is a ultimate joke!!! Not long moved to Exeter and in the process of changing my address, I paid for parking and still have the ticket but the magic camera sends you a bill. Due to the house move they sent this bill to my olds address. Today I receive £160 bill for parking I paid for, when you call them all you get is a cocky person on the phone that is no help. NEVER using any of these shops again.

Recently parked in this car park with intention of visiting the shops around the canal and the Range afterwards. Paid for parking 3 hours .I had my two grandchildren with me plus there scooter s,did all this within the paid time. I have now a month later received a parking fine letter, showing me arriving and leaving within the time limit. On said letter it quoted alleged breach of advertised terms and conditions!!!!!!!!!!!! Tried ringing to ask what for. Spent considerable time ringing with nobody picking up the phone. My advise is never park there, I certainly won't and unfortunately the shops and cafe's will loose out. My personal thought is possibly the ticket blew over as its non sticky.However at the cost of £54.00 it won't catch me again.

I parked in this car park last November to go to a funeral. I paid for the right amount of time, but only put the last three digits of my registration in the machine - I stayed less than the time I parked, but got a parking charge notice, I appealed, but they said because I hadn't keyed in my full registration, my ticket wasn't valid, I went to "independent" appeal (are they really?) and was unsuccessful. Smart parking are now using a debt recovery agent. I will never park here - or in any car park operated by a private company again.

As all other comments- drove in to answer a call on my mobile and call my husband who I was picking up to find out where he was. was in car park for 20 mins and 30 sec - wasn't even parked all that time - it included driving around and in and out once.wanted to know if everybody paid their fine.

I still have my ticket and have appealed, but not sure it will work because I only put the last 3 lettrs of my Reg no. in and I bet I was supposed to put the full No. My local council car park only requires Last 3 Letters of Reg No. I definitely won't be parking here again and I will be telling my friends!!

I have received two parking charge notices Incorrectly both are on the same day i have stopped off the road to answer my mobile phone without causing due danger to other road users i have not left my vehicle at any point been made BEWARE of the said charges upon entering the site that are not Clearly displayed or even displayed at all in the darkness of night! Please refrain from issuing unlawful tickets and bullying the public into paying your outrageous fines because i am more than happy to turn this into a civil dispute. I also TRIED making a formal complaint regarding the customer service aspect of your company from a brief but much long awaited conversation waiting to be answered finally to interact with "Mya" from your PCN Department who i found to be rude obnoxious also refraining me to be allowed to speak to any form of superior to report this poor cause of conduct. Shocking - £160 fine - over by a few minutes - they clock you as you drive in/out NOT when you get to buy a ticket - they never sent the notification to my house and instead went straight to debt collection. Bastards

Absolute joke! Buy a ticket for 2 hours and as their photos show was only there for 1.45hr, yet I still got a fine!! Because I threw away the ticket I can't appeal, avoid this car park like the plague, good luck to all those businesses who depend on this car park because they are going to lose out. Terrible system , Machine is faulty , have sent evidence of the ticket I purchased along with signage I stayed for 15 minutes in the car park and paid for 3 hours . I was visiting Matalan and discovered I'd forgotten my card . The company 'Smart Parking' clearly didn't 'thoroughly' check their system enough as they claim they didn't find my number plate on there , I've had the car for ten years as believe I may have entered the plate incorrectly .Sadly won't be visiting Matalan, the range or bowling until the company no longer the car park

The anpr system tracks time of entry and exit and you need to be away from the car park before the 2 hours. Not paying my fine as not clear. Also will never shop in matalan, range or bowling again

Getting a parking ticket for an evenings bowling has put me off ever going to exeter ten pin. There is no possibility to pay for longer than 3 hours. So this limits the length of a potential night out. £52 is an outrageous fine for someone who paid for a ticket!

Do not use this car park. Number plate cameras record entrance and exit and do not allow time for parking, or purchasing the ticket. If your just dropping someone off and dont buy a ticket, your likely to get a parking notice to pay from Smart Parking.

A £40 fine even though i paid for a ticket! It doesn't give you time to buy a ticket or actually get back in your car. Avoid parking here!
