Way to Over priced.

Apr 18, 2019

Too expensive by far, evident by how few cars where using it. There seemed no obvious clue as to the charges upon entry to enable me to drive on by. There were no obvious clues as to how or where to pay afterwards either. I won't be using this car park again.

Good for town but not that cheap.

Friday night I left for this car park with a friend following me in her car, I arrived at 17:45 and she got lost and arrived at 18:15, we both got back to the cars at 21:30, her ticket? £3.50, mine? £8.80!!!! Despite their evening charges starting at 18:00 if you get here a minute before 6 you will be charged peak rates for your full stay. Complete and utter scam. Also their payment machine rejects new £1 coins and new £5 coins (despite the old ones being illegal now) so good luck paying in change!

Went to pay by card, £8.80, machine wouldn't take my card so I pressed the help button and was told it was easier to pay at the exit so drove to the exit to pay and the price then was £10.50 !!!! I don't mind paying to park but to pay an extra £1.70 to exit a car park is taking the P

I also got caught in the last hour before the night rate rip off, parking up at 1730. This is clearly NOT the car park for your evening trip to Reading. Most other places seem to be able to play fair and charge "overnight rate plus" under these circumstances. Avoid.

4 hours and 1 minute parking costs £11 of my hard-earned money. This is a hair's breadth away from theft.

On 13/10/12 I parked in this car park at 17.43 and left at 22.03 and expected a fee of £5.10 for one hour daytime parking and an evening rate of £3.50. However, when I put my ticket in the machine, I was charged £11! On querying this I was told that because I parked in 'daytime' the evening rate was not applicable! How disgusting is that! Parkers be aware!

Need to nip to M&S in Reading, so decided to park here first thing, so I was there for the shops opening at 8am (and as a means of avoiding the Saturday shopping crowds on a very hot day!). Hadn't realised that a flat overnight rate of £3.50 applies up to 8.00am. I arrived at 7.50am, and got stung the full £3.50 for just 10mins parking!! In total I was parked for just one hour and got fleeced a total of £5.10 !!! £3.50 + £1.60 (the daytime charge after 8am for 1 hour). Really annoyed by this, and will never park at Queens Road again. It had been my car park of choice. I feel totally ripped off for 10mins parking in a near empty car park. Why can't the overnight cut-off be 7am? Answer, because 8am will catch unsuspecting mugs like me. In the case the early bird doesn't catch the worm. Be warned.

Last week their machine gave change - but none of it was British money. This week their machine overcharged me. Calling for help is a complete waste of time, they refuse to come out (I'm a single female btw) to help. I was told they don't refund - so I now have a load of useless coins from their machine. What can I say about this place. It used to be my car park of choice when visiting Reading, but since the prices went up in 2010, and the removal of the 3hr option I have stopped parking here. Instead I use the Oracle car park which does have a 3hr option. The price jump from £3-£6 (2-4hrs) is laughable and I urge everyone else to boycott this place. Although it's not quite as easy to get into the Oracle carpark when it's busy, it's a much better place and much larger so you stand a better chance of finding a parking spot.

Parking In Reading United Kingdom

Town centre parking, or parking near the centre will mean charges.

But some areas which are still close to Reading do not have parking restrictions, e.g. Shinfield, Whitley, West Reading (far end of Oxford Road), East Reading (near Sutton's Business Park).

Streets in North Reading/Caversham are usually quite cramped with cars, and at rush hours the bridges over the Thames can be very busy.
