AVOID I paid and displayed a ticket but have just received a penalty charge notice. Despite several attempts, the ticket machine would not accept my full registration number and so the ANPR system has decided that I didn’t pay. I’ve appealed and sent a photo of the original ticket, but after reading other reviews on here I’m not hopeful.

Paid £3 for 12 hours, stayed under 5 hours and have received a fine. Have appealed. Now gone to debt recovery. Don’t use this space, it’s temptingly cheap but not worth it.

I have tried to park there today. Like other people unable to get a ticket out of the machines. I have driven out and parked elsewhere. Ridiculous car park and the council should not be allowing it.

Will receive a fine even if you pay, an no way to rectify if you forget . Avoid!

Looks more like a dump than a car park, full of pot holes and and entrance so narrow that will take your wing mirrors off if you're not careful. They also charge you the time you entered and left with no grace period while you were finding a parking space that isn't flooded or filled with a dumped heap of rust.

Lewes Car Park Scam . I too parked at Wharf Car park entered my details into their faulty machine ,it was raining so prob not working properly ,I gave it a few goes. The machine only printed off the first 2 letters of my number plate onto the ticket but I had proof that I had paid £3 and sent them my bank statement to appeal . They turned down my down and said I had admitted not entering my number plate . Total Crims AVOID

This car park is run by criminals. I paid for parking on their stupid App they required and then got a letter demanding I pay £100. The car park itself is full of pot holes and abandoned vehicles and they will fine you even if you’ve bought a ticket. They should be reported to the police

The operators of this car park are a disgrace and it should be avoided at all costs. The car park itself is a hazard to enter with pot holes and extremely small entrance. Be aware you are likely to be fined if you do not pay for parking as soon as you enter the car park.

I too have just been caught by the same scam. I paid & displayed my ticket but apparently this is a University of Sussex car park and so requires in addition a UoS car park permit. The claim is this is "clearly stated" in the terms and conditions. How about clearly stating it at the entrance to the car park!!

Avoid this car park. I paid cash and displayed ticket and then received fine of £100 reduced to £60 if paid immediately.

Absolute disgrace this car park Daughter bought parking ticket and now they threatening her with court and a fine of £280… They should be ashamed of themselves

May 2023 I paid by cash and displayed. Just received £100 penalty notice. Going to complain to bbc rip off Britain

I can only echo what previous drivers have said. A total rip off! Advertised at entrance as £2 all day. I parked there for 4 hours. A week later received parking ticket for £100!

I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU AVOID WHARF CAR PARK. Its a RIP OFF! Extremely disappointed to recieve expensive penalty charge notice, 4 days after parking in Wharf car park APRIL 2022. Paid & displayed with cash at the machine. Placed my parking ticket on dashboard in the correct manner, as per countless other car parks Ive parked in for last 40 years. 4 days later Im shocked at fine sent in post, with photos of my car entering & leaving car park, but no photo of displayed ticket. pam jackson
