These parking companies are crooks , it’s a disgrace to scam ppl for parking for just 2 hours 2 minute. I spent £2k on carpets which takes time as their computers was slow and euro car parks are waiting to scam you

Echo the sentiments above. No clear signage and 2 hours not enough. Why don't they just allow you to pay for parking? I'm refusing to pay the fine and it has just raised to £170. An outrageous scam.

2 hours free car parking is a joke. I’ve just paid a heavy parking fine for shopping in this Retail Park. Not happy with this and not going to return. Very disappointed.

So upset to receive a fine today for overstaying in Chelmer Village car park. It’s just typical that you do a good deed for a disabled friend who had been unable to leave the house following a broken leg for weeks. Took her shopping parked in a disabled bay using her tickets and then £100 fine. I’m devastated. I would also like to point out that the signage is not at all obvious.

Spent over £200 and then got fined £100 for parking there, ridiculous

Zero stars is too much let alone 1! We have just received a demand for £100.00 for parking in excess of two hours. This is outrageous! How is 2 hours long enough to visit multiple shops and have a coffee at a retail park? And why isn't this limitation not clearly signposted? Other places give you plenty of time or have a pay and display system. This is just duplicitous and greedy! I will no longer be shopping here so TK Maxx, Boots, Next, etc. have now lost £1000's of future revenue. I hope that they think long and hard about this when renewing their leases with this greedy landlord.

Very disappointed to receive a £100 fine for staying longer than 2hrs. Change in restrictions is poorly advertised. I live out of the area and I can easily spend 2hrs in several of these larger stores stocking up on items but now I won’t be returning. This retail park will continue to loose custom based on this 2hrs restriction without an option to pay for longer stay and use of excessive fines. Disappointed customer

Arrived half hour before the shops opened so grabbed a coffee whilst I waited, then went in several shops including appointment at kitchen shop which obviously took time. Have today received a fine (£100 reduced to £60) for parking too long - how is it possible to drink/eat & shop within 2hrs. Will avoid this little retail park in the future.

I am disabled and was in a disabled bay. I had no idea there were parking restrictions here. How is it possible to have two/three restaurants and a number of large retail outlets and expect two hours parking. I am fuming and won’t be visiting this retail park again.

Went there 2 days before Christmas, spent plenty of money in various shops there, wandered around browsing only to receive a fine of £100 in the post today, reduced to £60 if i pay within 14 days... I haven't seen the signs, been shopping there for many years. What a terrible way to discourage people to shop there. why on earth don't they just bring in a parking charge if they must so at least you can pay a fair amount. Absolutely disgraceful, will not be returning in a hurry. 2 Hours is not even a reasonable time to go into the various shops there...

Please reconsider the 2 hour restriction. I haven’t been fined but I want to be able to shop and grab a coffee without having to stare at my watch

Just received a fine for exceeding the 2 hours, which I wasn’t aware of. Fuming. I am never shopping there again. I mean why a 2 hour limit, it’s not near a station, town, etc. which would normally constitute a short parking time. I feel sorry for the retailers there as it will definitely affect their trade, but also feel they should have big signs up at the till to advise customers of this ridiculous time restriction

Went to by an orthopaedic bed with my elderly parents. They took a long time deciding on which one (they’re not cheap). Had coffee to mull over the figures. Went home happy to have done my good deed for the day. Now got the wife on my back because I got fined. Never saw any signs. Robbers. Will not ever be back!

Cannot believe I received a parking ticket, I have shopped here for several years and was unaware parking restrictions were in place. Are these new signs? In comparison Pipps Hill retail park has had signs for a number of years, but restrictions have never been enforced ! Does the 3 hour disabled limit not apply ? How can a disabled person shop in a couple of the shops, have something to eat / drink get their wheelchair in and out of the car all in 2 hours? I understand you are a business but believe the 2hour timescale is too short. Retailers are struggling in the current economic climate, if shoppers refuse to stay and spend money this can only result detrimentally on the UK’s economy.

Parked in this car park for years while doing shopping from the various shops and spent hours only to be sent a fine for overstaying. 2 hours max for shopping in this retail park is outrageous and a RIP OFF. Chelmsford city needs to reconsider this money making gap. Disgusted shopper

Very very annoyed that I received today a parking fine of £60. I’ve been going there for years, using their shops & coffee shops, but guess they’ve only just introduced cameras. Yes, I should have read the signs, but I never gave it a second thought. How can you visit several shops, have a coffee (even a meal) in 2 hours?! They won’t get my custom from now on.

This is the first time in years that we have visited Chelmsford. We were on an annual Christmas shopping trip and thoroughly enjoyed our day. UNTIL TODAY !!! When I received a letter informing me that we had received a £100 fine due to an over stay at Chelmer village retail park !! Firstly it will be the last time we go there and secondly for the amount of shops that are there including coffee shops, the 2 hours that we only just found out today is definitely not enough time. We did not see the notices and not one shop makes you aware!! This definitely needs looking at. If you’ve come s long way and don’t live in the area how would you know. We did look for a ticket machine and would rather have paid for a ticket than to get this fine, especially when times are already hard enough for everyone. You have lost 2 customers and no doubt many more will not venture back.

Decided to use helmer Village retail park to do some serious Black Friday shopping very pleased with shops and purchases only to find a few days later I have been fined £60 for over staying a ridiculous 2 hours. Do they want custom or not never will shop there again .

It’s a joke 2 hours is unacceptable and there is no new signs that make it clear to customers the new restrictions

Seriously not fair, l’ve received a fine today for overstaying, l have no clue, that restriction has been put in place, l have shopped there so many times, stayed longer, but since when did, thus Euro Car Parks appeared, and since when did the car park became a private Land,2 hours certainly not enough to go round this shops,, looking for deals, This is a total (Rip Off Euro Car Park)

It would be much better if the parking was paid then at least I know that I'll not have to pay £100.00 for exceeding the 2 hours of free parking. Now with the bills going up with 80% on top I have to pay another £100.00

I will not be returning to Chelmer Village and will advise anyone I know not to shop there and make alternative arrangements. I have shopped frequently here and spent money on every visit. This will no longer be the case. I will spend my money elsewhere and avoid the chance of receiving a £100 parking fine for staying over the two hour limit which I was unaware of. My visits are normally very quick so had no reason to look for parking restrictions that are in place. On the occasion I received the fine I was looking to buy a new laptop for work which would have been a minimum investment of £1500. This money I will now spend elsewhere using an online retailer to avoid parking fines. I will not use the retailer that is in Chelmer Village even though their staff took time to look at my requirements and advised accordingly I will not even use their online store I will find an alternative. Highly recommend John Lewis as their parking is a lot less than the fine I now have to pay for using my local retail park.

Totally agree. Had a coffee, shopping day with daughter, spent a lot of money there had lunch. Was unaware of parking restrictions got a £100.00 parking fine this morning. Likewise will not be returning. 2 hours is not enough particularly when you have a heavily pregnant daughter. Plus the fine is totally disproportionate.

This is outrageous - I was trying to buy a cleaner for my elderly mother then took her for lunch, then get fined! These shops are going to suffer too

This restrictions on parking here are new. 2 hours max is not enough if you are meeting friends for lunch and shopping
