We had registered to state we were a blue badge holder, used the QR code and updated our details. Then got a ticket through the post , appealed and it got waived. The instructions aren’t clear. Difficult to see in the dark early in the morning. The system assumes every one is tech savvy. For older people doing this it put stress on us, I couldn’t get the App to work initially and then kept checking time as didn’t want to miss our train due to us messing about. I was worried all day if we had done the parking correct which ruin our day in London.
We thought we had paid and given our car reg and have received a letter asking for £80: There was no light near the paypont and at 7.15 it was still dark. Maybe there was more information of we could have read it. You need a torch!
Difficult if not impossible to park after 7.30 AM on most days as the car park fills. This has been marginally improved by the addition of the new parking on the london bound side, but is still something of a gamble. Parking charges have risen rapidly in recent times and the latest 'improvement' is to disable the credit card service from 1st July 2010 on the 'old' (Hull bound) side car park, requiring a trip over the footbridge and back to buy a ticket if debit/credit card is your only option (although there is a dial-in service). Park in the surrounding streets if the station car park is full at your peril. The local press has been reporting on 'mystery' damage to cars left parked in nearby streets.
