Don not park here paid 14 pound in tickets to park 6 hours and 2 weeks later a 100 fine for what ? Cant appeal as no answer on phone sent letter late so only 1 day to pay 60 or then it goes to 100 and for what ???? We clearly paid and have it on bank statement we are disgusted

I will not pay the fine at all. Did paid and display. Paid 3 hours on machine. Machine keyboard was not working fully. And get the penalty. Appeals but not going to paid the fine

We paid for a 2 hour stay and were fined £100 for being less than 10 minutes over, after pushing a 95 year old in a wheelchair back to the car park. We displayed a valid disabled blue badge in the belief that an additional hour was allowed for blue badge holders. Cynical extortionists indeed!

Thieves, nothing more.

Use at your own risk! Your car is photographed (number plate recognition) on entry/exit. I entered only the last 3 digits of registration into the ticket machine. Britannia Parking fined me, said I had not obeyed notices and used full registration number. I kept my ticket and complained, but they still hit me with admin fees. Beware, fall foul of them and it's a hassle to them off your back. Beware, or park elsewhere.

Don't use it unless you have too. If you over run they fine heavily. Better to overpay, which is what the rates are designed for. I wonder why they aren't pay as you leave? Designed to catch you out and charge fines. Money for old rope!!PS I had to put one star to submit this review, shame they don't have negative stars!!!!

Don't park here, operated by extortionists looking to issue hefty fines.

Simple. DO NOT USE THIS CAR PARK.

Jan 8, 2019

Avoid using any Britannia car parks. Clever at ripping people off . Even appealing the original fine drops you with more admin fee's .

Utter scam, received a fine but I have no idea why, the APNR camera photo clearly shows my ticket displayed and I left ahead of the paid for time ending. Do not bother to like the pockets of these scam artists.

Similar experience to the rest of the reviews on here. £85 fine for a 7 minute overstay. Avoid these carparks where possible.

Jul 28, 2018

Never use any car park run by these, they will only rip you off with charges.

Appalled - just received £85 fine. Bought ticket for 3 hrs - was only there for 2hr - why the fine!!!!!Madness

I would avoid at all costs any car park run by Britannia Parking aka Brit Park. In Plymouth these are Harbour Approach (Lockyers Quay ANPR), Fish Quay, North Quay Edge (Sutton Harbour), Charles Cross and Lambhay Hill (ANPR). If you don’t read their entire list of rules and follow them to the letter expect an automated £80 fine with ANPR camera evidence 2 weeks after parking even if you have paid and displayed your ticket. I have since found out their parking charges per hour are higher than on street parking provided by the council. Their appeals process is designed to drag out to the limits of the British parking association guidelines and it will be declined no matter your argument or evidence (even if you can show the physical ticket purchased or prove their machine was faulty at the time of purchase). Save yourself the hassle, park a further 5 or 10 mins walk away in a council run car park.

I have just had to pay £50 for 22 minutes overstay,(approx. £2.30 per minutes). If I had not paid at all I would still have been charged the same so where is the reward for honesty . Britannia Parking obviously have no morals and I will tell everyone I know not to park in their carparks.I have had to rate the carpark 1 star as this is the ionly way to write a review,

Do not park here at night - there are no lights by the machine or anywhere in the car park at all. I have received a fine but I am also contacting the Council: they have some responsibility as it is within the city boundary.

DO NOT USE THIS CAR PARK. I will never use this or other car parks run by Britannia Parking again. I paid my parking, got sent a fine, appealed and now have to pay an admin fee. They are criminals and bullies. Their machines print the wrong dates and one doesnt work. BEWARE.

Awful, used the paybyphone app, still ended up with a ticket, Plymouth is not short of parking, will park elsewhere in future.

Absolutely awful!!!! We parked here on the 5th August... we paid by card on the machine using the pad... money came out of our bank (£5 but only requested £3) we have now had a £85 fine saying failed to pay... going through appeal process but lady on the phone didnt make it sound hopeful... luckily we have proof of payment as it has come out of the bank! Also been charged £15 admin fee!!!! ☹

I will be warning everyone not to park here. We live overlooking this car park. At the moment we do not have any visitor permits for guests so people have been using the car park when they come to visit. I have had two family members receive fines in the last few weeks. Not because they overstayed their time/didn't pay but because only one machine was working and the queue of people trying to use the other very temperamental machine was so long they were over the allotted 10 minutes you get to pay. This is absolutely disgusting and, as someone wrote above, daylight robbery. My family are refusing to pay the fines as basically they have been fined £80/£85 for standing in a queue trying to pay for their ticket. Disgraceful. I will be reporting this company to watchdog and would suggest others do the same. I've heard so many complaints about this now. They should not be allowed to get away with this. I've given one star as I had to in order to post the review.

Used to be simple. Not so more. One machine wasn't working was in a wide of 13 people each taking a very long time. In the rain wouldn't take cash everyone had to pay by card. A friend tried downloaded app using her data on her phone which was charged . Then would only let you pay 2 hours a time. So we continued to wait I paid. Then i now have a parking charge notice for 85. Absolute insult said I went over my time !!!!! Never park here again. Daylight robbery. And greed !

Aug 10, 2017

I had same problem as oerson above. Only one machine working and would not accept my card. Because there 11 mins got fine you get 10 mins. This is a scandal as they should be fined for non working machines by Plymouth Council. I would warn everyone not to park there and boycott Britannia car parks. I think it is as scam and money making unscrupulously by someone!

Aug 10, 2017

Experienced chaos similar to the previous reviewer.Eventually able to pay on my card at the third attempt. We nearly left the car park as there was a long que for the only working machine. We had intended to pay by cash.Later saw a tourist in the information centre asking for a number to contact the parking company. Disgraceful! Lots of large flashy rule signs but no easy way to comply. Star for location.

On return home from hols I had a 'lovely' letter waiting for me from Britannia Parking demanding £80 parking charge. My appeal has been rejected of course.I was apparently there for 15 minutes! All that time was spent trying to work the one only working of two meters on a busy Sunday afternoon. We were only there for the afternoon, on our way to Cornwall. I discovered then that I could not pay by cash which I had ready. Went back to the car to find card. Queues of people waiting . Could not read meter in bright sunlight and it kept aborting my card. I would stand by and let the queue go before trying again and again. So upset and frustrated went back to car and left. It ruined our visit. This is unfair and should have a facility for cash payment. There was no written 'grace' period for paying. As I could not use the car park I do not owe anything.

Parking In Torpoint United Kingdom

As well as the Tamar Street Car Park, there is short term parking available on the left hand side of the majority of Fore Street, as well as a couple of the side streets. The spaces available are limited however, and particularly at peak times it can be difficult to find a space. Furthermore there is a small car park available near the church, which may or may not be Pay and Display.

For those wishing to visit Thanckes Park, or The Lawns, there is free parking available just off the A374 opposite the school. This is clearly marked from the main road. During school hours this car park is often quite full, being used by the teachers from the nearby schools. Otherwise this car park rarely has more than 3-4 vehicles in it, and they'll often only be there for 30 minutes or so. Occasionally this car park gets used by Long-Haul drivers for breaks. It is also worth noting that for a few days a year, while the faire is in town, the car park becomes innaccesible.
