very good, cheap and easy parking

Dec 31, 2024

I have also been charged a parking fee . Has anybody tried to appeal this and won. A disgrace I visited all shop, and spent over £3000 on a sofa . Not happy

Sep 24, 2024

Just put duct tape over your licence plate front and back prior to going into and out of the car park. Easy fix!

Aug 7, 2024

I've received a court letter today saying I owe £262.08 for failing to pay a fine from Dec 26th 2023 for over staying in the car park. This is the first letter I've had. This was boxing day when I was spending an awful lot of money in the sales on a new sofa etc.... its also a disability vehicle displaying a disabled badge! Disgusting from a retail park. 2 hours maximum for a shopping park!!

May 24, 2024

Beware when parking outside Lidl/Smyths toys they will accuse you of leaving the site and fine you £100 with absolutely no evidence.

Apr 24, 2024

3 hours 13 minutes and a £100 fine. I didn’t notice any signs about the limit, I stupidly assumed it was free considering the size of the retail park. I am diabetic and had to make sure I had lunch and had blood sugars enabling me to drive safely after my shopping. I will appeal, hopefully they will see sense. I’m a bit shocked.

Apr 5, 2024

Tiny car parking spaces full of potholes, litter and not safe for pedestrians walking from car to shop. Then you get fined 170 for providing business to your local shops as they dont send the first letter if you overstay a few minutes. 2hours to rush around and get out even if there is a queue GroupNexus and sears retail park management = thieving predators, how do they sleep

Mar 11, 2024

Received a fine for £100 for parking there 3hrs 10 minutes. I've been shopping here for years and have never noticed a parking limit sign. Its a massive retail park. How can you get round it in 2/3 hours? Will not be returning

Feb 28, 2024

Same story as all of the above, no signs visible to say that there is any kind of parking limit. Took my daughter in law for a shopping trip, had a lovely day and spent a lot then this letter arrives today staying I have ignored the first letter (never received). Definitely won’t be going there again and will advise anyone I speak to not to either. Completely outrageous!

Jan 31, 2024

No stars for this car park. Same as another person...£170 demand from Debt Recovery Plus and not 1 letter informing me of the fine beforehand. It’s a disgrace! Never going there again.

Jan 28, 2024

Received a £170 parking fine for parking outside Sears Lidl in December 2023 when Christmas shopping. No first letter sent for reduced fine - straight to debt collector. Merry Xmas!

Jan 4, 2024

I wish I could give it 0 stars!! No wonder high street shops are dying, I will not be coming back. Absolutely disgusting considering we were genuinely shopping the whole time we were parked! Also convenient that I didn’t receive the letter offering a reduced fine! So angry it’s unbelievable. Shop elsewhere!

Dec 29, 2023

It’s a disgrace ! I agree to all above, I was shopping there for Xmas yes was there for 4 hrs but when you have a lot to get and it’s hard to think what to buy people which I’m like and there is lots of shops there to go in and when it’s really busy of course it’s going to take longer at Xmas also as I was there for longer I got hungry and needed to eat so went to marks and Spencer and have food and drink , these kind of companies don’t think realistically they need to rethink so I am appealing it .

Dec 18, 2023

Ridiculous that the carpark at Sears retail park has 2 different parking companies, one providing 3 hours free parking with obvious signage and one infront of Smyths toys providing only 2 hours free parking, with signage that is not as obvious. So you see 3 hours , but park in front of Smyths to get childens Christmas presents and end up with a £100 parking charge.

Dec 16, 2023

Absolutely, disgraceful, parked there last Saturday to do Xmas shopping, I am a partial wheelchair user and even with my blue badge received a parking fine in the post for parking their 2 hours and 38 minutes, what is the point of going shopping as a disabled shopper if going to be fined . Don't these companies realise it takes us longer to shop. Makes me more isolated and frustrated as already classed as a second class citizen

Nov 30, 2023

Unbelievable! As much as time limits are frustrating I can accept their usage for the benefit of all but to reduce the time limit and NOT draw people’s attention to this change is simply criminal. First offences under new rules should be a small fixed charge to cover admin. Off to very begrudgingly pay my 60 pounds fine!

Nov 27, 2023

I got a fine for parking for 2 hours 17 minutes. I use the gym there and went for a coffee. So I am being fined for spending money in my local community. It’s ridiculous to think anyone could visit all of the businesses on the park in less than two hours. So the parking is stopping people from spending. I think the businesses need to look at this!! Disgraceful.

Nov 21, 2023

No clear signs on entering car park to advise that each area is operated by different organisations with different t&cs whilst using the car park area. Even though the website states it’s 3 hours free by smiths toy shop it’s only 2 hrs with no grace period. It’s a scam that regular shoppers are charged so much. Solihull council you should be ashamed to let organisation get away with this.

Nov 13, 2023

Got the `parked and left site` reason on the parking ticket while I spent there 20 minutes shopping. What a joke. Did I teleport away from there and then next day teleported back for my car? I'll be reporting illegal capture of personal data as they have no right to give tickets left and right for silly things like teleporting

Nov 3, 2023

Shopped here in October 2023. Have just had a parking ticket saying we were 13 minutes over 2 hours. Absolutely disgraceful. How do they expect us to shop in 2 hours. Such lovely shops but no time to shop in them. By the time we had found parking space, got pushchair and child out of the car and back in the car you are left with just over one and a half hours. This needs to be looked into especially for Christmas shopping otherwise the shops will be no more.

Jul 20, 2023

Zero stars. Don't park here unless you want a parking charge. No previous letters received and then a letter to tell me that I've ignored previous letters and have to pay 170. Never parking here again.

Jul 12, 2023

Zero review Parking fine as I was there 19 minutes over the parking time, no signs to state this. Plus I was shopping and bite to eat, are they expecting you to do all that under 3 hours? Plus I had a disabled person with me. You having a laugh?

Jul 5, 2023

Same as all other reviews, £100.00 fine in first letter I received and no previous letter as it says where could have paid less. Shopped for years there with no time limit, not at all obvious there is a limit. What a bunch of devious con artists this company is. At least change it to. Pay and display so it's not so sneaky, or allow a sensible amount of time for such a big retail park. Rip off!

Jul 4, 2023

Totally agree with all the negative reviews posted. We parked at Sears on 25th May. No signs evident as to length of time allowed. Shopped and ate. Left 4 hours later. 5 weeks 4 days later we received a letter demanding we pay £100 as we had ignored the 14 days notice to pay a “reduced amount”. No such notice of said reduced amount was issued. More galling is the printed extraction from a Supreme Court saying virtually what this company is doing is NOT “extravagant, exorbitant or unconscionable “. It’s private land so they can charge what they want. Should the retailers have signage informing you of the time limit? 0 stars.

Jul 3, 2023

WHAT AN UTTER SCAM! Well annoyed! No previous notice received, nor was I aware of parking limit for visiting this retail park as I’d travelled 28 miles to shop there. Received a surprise parking fine letter a whole month after I’m supposed to have overstayed the time limit. The fine was for £100, which I thought was a bit steep considering I hadn’t received an initial letter. Tried calling to contest the fine, however contact number unattainable and not given enough time to appeal so paid up. I was shopping alone and must have visited almost every shop before stopping for a bite in the busy M&S cafe. This is what possibly took me over the limit (32 mins). I won’t be returning!

Apr 26, 2023

Very limited signage for parking limit, as everyone else has said went and did lots of shopping, spent lots of money, had lunch. Fine of £100 because they never sent the initial letter with reduced charge option. Utter scam, impossible to get around shops that fast as they are busy and spread out and I have osteoarthritis in my knees. Have paid and will appeal to the ombudsman but won’t get anywhere I suspect. Now I think it’s gone down to 2 hours? Will never, ever go there again.

Mar 13, 2023

I received a parking ticket on 15/2/23 for £100, £60 if I pay in 14 days for overstaying the allotted time by 18 minutes, this is daylight robbery. My friends and I travelled 35 miles for a shopping trip I will not be visiting again!

Mar 12, 2023

Like all of the above I will not be frequenting this retail park again , for all of the above reasons . I am so angry about this nonsense and despicable sneaky car parking that I have warned others on Twitter and Facebook about this corrupt company and will being writing a review on trip advisor and writing to Solihull council .

Mar 5, 2023

Not going back ever again

Feb 7, 2023

Something needs to be done about this even disabled people are fined. it’s disgusting a money making scheme and just totally ridiculous2 hours isn’t enough for such big stores and no way of paying for longer, something should be done by the council to change this parking or all the shops will close down soon !

Feb 5, 2023

The allowed free parking in Sears Retail Park has been reduced to 2 hours only. I am not sure when the new rules was implemented. In fact, there are more than 10 large shops in the area (TKMall, M&S, LiDL ......). Some of them have restaurants installed. Especially LiDL does not have self-service check out and you have to wait a long que for your purchase. It is very easy for u to spend more than 2 hours in the Retail Park. And indeed, the car park is large enough that it has never been full. Is it really necessary to reduce the free parking hours ?

Feb 3, 2023

I believe the time restriction on parking is now 2 HOURS...NOT LONG ENOUGH

Feb 3, 2023

Wish i could give zero stars. Over the pandemic they put a restriction of 3h parking on a retail park with numerous shops, supermarket, gym and cafe. Recently theyve cut it down to 2h. Thats not even enough time to do a supermarket shop and stop at baby changing with a kid. Its an absolute disgrace. Ive been shopping here for years without issue. The addition of the M&S made parking ridiculous and now with the restrictions and fines i will not be visiting again.

Jan 19, 2023

Same as everyone else I have visited this shopping centre and spent a fortune on numerous trips and now I have two parking fines. Again a lunch stop at M&S to replenish and feed two small babies has resulted in £200 in fines. The retailers need to get together and stop this as I can state that I will not shop here again and I used to go every Tuesday. To top it all off they are selling the retail park under an investment fund quoting £5.7m in passing rents… they won’t keep that up without shoppers spending money. https://stauntonwhiteman.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/SW-Solihull.pdf I’m utterly disgusted disappointed and really let down. They need to do something

Jan 7, 2023

As numerous others I have just received a parking charge notice for parking over 3 hours when xmas shopping. This is totally unreasonable given the fact that there are no notices making this amply clear. I had to queue an age to get out of the car park which delayed my exit. We should all make the retailers aware of this, as they will loose customers. We should all lobby the owners for leniency as this is clearly affecting many innocent shoppers. Group Nexus - you need to get your act together before your reputation is damaged!

Dec 30, 2022

As with all others. Fined £100 for daring to spend slightly over 3hrs shopping in multiple outlets at this retail park. I had no idea there was a limit and I would advise everyone to boycott the place....its not worth the money.

Dec 28, 2022

Only giving 1 star as zero is not an option. Received parking fine today - I had no idea there was a time limit on parking here - especially considering the number of shops on site. I certainly wouldn’t have sat and patiently waited an hour for my lunch order in M&S cafe(overwhelmed with orders) had I known I was getting parking fine as I waited! A lengthy and extremely expensive pre xmas shopping expedition has left me with a nasty taste in my mouth. Put simply - I will NEVER shop at this retail park again!

Dec 21, 2022

We have just received a fine for £100 for doing some Christmas shopping early December. I am so gutted as can’t afford this fine. I am a law abiding citizen and would have happily paid for parking if it had been an option. I didn’t see any signage saying three hours max. Disgusting

Dec 18, 2022

I have just found out via a friend that she received a fine for parking longer than 3 hours. This is disgusting. There is no option to pay for extra time. Surely the retailers want to encourage shoppers to stay and buy? Something needs to be done about this. I’m grateful for the warning from my friend at least.

Dec 18, 2022

I am absolutely gutted! Received my fine today for 3 hrs 45 mins parking, this included lunch at M and S, ( they aren't quick)! Food and Christmas shopping. With the amount of shops there 2 hours is ridiculous. I've shopped here for years and was totally unaware of any restrictions. I shall appeal...these parking companies are an absolute rip off!! I won't be shopping here again that's for sure!

Dec 16, 2022

Have just received a car parking fine in the post for staying 3 hours 12 minutes at Sears Retail Park - 12 minutes over the apparent 3 hour maximum. I had no idea there was a time limit - not great signage. Scandalous when you consider how much I've spent in various shops on site. The public need to be made more aware and retailers on the site need to rally together and to put an end to this ridiculous time limit.

Dec 12, 2022

It hurts to be scammed like this. I’ll never shop here again.

Dec 9, 2022

We normally shop at Solihull but when M&S moved to Shirley we decided to journey, from Rugby, to do a good Christmas shop. Just received the parking fine, 8/12, for the visit on 22/11 with a stay of 3 hours and 57 minutes. We didn't hang about, spent a lot of money and had lunch in M&S. Never saw a sign. Needless to say we won't be going back and will advise others accordingly. Why can't I do a zero

Nov 11, 2022

Received my penalty charge today, obviously no sign of time limit or anything there, payed my parking ticket in full on my way out and still managed to get 100£ penalty charge , I’ll definitely appeal it as only found out it’s time limit from the comments in here, how can you manage to shop, have a lunch and everything in there in 3hours? It’s not possible , all I can say I’ll fight for my penalty and I’m not gonna return there ever again. It’s a joke, put a clearly sign of time limit or at least give a warning to the people at the first so they know. Normally it’s time limit for free parking not a payed parking. Won’t recognize to everyone to park or go to shops there. Will rate it 0 stars

Nov 8, 2022

No stars - ridiculously short time-limit, no clear warnings, deliberately designed to catch out customers resulting in parking penalties! My friend and I visited this retail park for the first time on 22 October 2022. We had lunch at Marks and Spencer’s, and spent money in numerous shops, totally oblivious to any parking restrictions, as neither of us saw any signs when we parked our cars. In an outdoor retail park like this we both expected parking to be free, to encourage shoppers to stop as long as they wish to spend money there, have lunch etc. We were both shocked to receive parking charge notices today for overstaying, as apparently 4.5 hours exceeds the time limit! We will both be appealing against the parking charge, but would advise anyone else who is thinking of shopping there not to bother, as clearly the retailers have no interest in their customers staying for any reasonable length of time, and the company who control the land are just making as much profit as possible, an absolute disgrace!

Nov 7, 2022

Don’t bother cars are being stolen left right snd Center and there is nothing you can do about it my brand new defender was stolen yesterday , they need to make car parking more secure before they start fining people !!!!!!

Nov 7, 2022

I along with everyone else on here, have received a fine today, 14 days after the letter was issued hence not goving me time to pay the 14 day lower rate of £60 if i chose to. I will however be appealing this letter. As with many others on here we have been shopping here for 20 odd years and have never had to pay for parking or seen vIsible signs or cameras telling you there are parking restrictions. I also spent a lot of money that day and took my mum for lunch in M&S. A 3 hour limit is ridiculous if you want to encourage people into the amount of shops there and have a lunch out. Disgrace.

Nov 1, 2022

What a disgrace! I've just received my parking fine. There are signs but I've been shopping here for years and probably never had cause to stop for longer than 3 hours. Now there is an increase in the stores ie M&S, Lidl, Mountain Warehouse I worry that so many people are going to be caught out by this in the run up to Christmas. Everyone get the word out to their friends and I will be appealing the fine. What short sightedness of the retailers. Why isn't there an option to pay for a longer stay? Do the retailers not want people to shop there just drop in, buy what is necessary and leave? That's what I will be doing in future. Lets enjoy our town centre instead.

Oct 14, 2022

What is the point of having a 2hr parking restriction when there are over 20 stores/shops. Lunch plus a visit to several shops and over £200 spent resulted in an invoice for £100 for overstaying. I have appealed. I will not be visiting Sears Retail Park until parking arrangements change. A pity after using it for over 5 years.

Oct 10, 2022

I have been shopping at Sears for many years and now suddenly get a £100 fine for staying 3 1/2 hours on 20th sept. Its impossible to have lunch and shop in 3 hours. I hope the shops realise how much trade they are going to loose due to this idiocy, because I will not be shopping there again until this is changed. Disgraceful, you should be ashamed.

Oct 3, 2022

This bought on a severe anxiety attack. We need more people to come forward on this platform so that we can all appeal this nonsense in court. A lot of people are saying cameras nor signs are clearly visible. This platform is evident that they are NOT! We can submit this as evidence. This is very upsetting especially during this difficult time. Everyone please appeal and wishing you all luck.

Oct 3, 2022

Absolutely awful. Didn't realise there was parking time limit introduced. Have shopped here for almost 2 decades. Received £100 in the post today 17 days after the event. No clear signs of cameras or time restrictions. The law requires this to be clear. This needs to be investigated. As a disabled person with limited mobility I find this totally discriminative. Even a totally healthy able bodied person cannot shop here within the time restrictions. Won't be shopping here again. Made all family and friends aware. Glad that everyone has made a stand here. 0 stars for Sears Retail Park. Daylight robbers. Shame on you.

Sep 22, 2022

Received a fine after two months for parking. I'm always shopping around here and I've never had problems or parking restrictions and now out of the blue I get a £100 fine!?!? Ridiculous!

Sep 16, 2022

Would be ZERO stars if there was an option. As per everyone else's comments, I received a parking fine but I had no idea there was a limit. This must have only been introduced recently because I have shopped here for years. I spent nearly a whole day shopping (spending a lot of money in virtually all of the shops, plus lunch at M&S) but will not be doing so again. Very, very short-sighted.

Sep 15, 2022

Appalled as received a parking ticket for 3 hrs 30min stay. Just like other shoppers I wasn’t aware of the time limit as it is not clear. Had to go to a few different stores but received the ticket 13days after it was issued, same as some of the other shoppers have commented upon. Seems to be a scam to force people into either not appealing or paying the full amount which has to be done after 14days. Completely appalled by the experience after spending a lot of money on shopping that day!

Sep 12, 2022

I’m only giving one star as 0 isn’t an option. Took my Mum for coffee and a shopping trip. I had no idea there was a time limit on parking here and any signs advising this we’re not obvious enough to notice. Fined £100 - Does not encourage a return to shop. So cross as would happily have paid and displayed were that the option!

Sep 10, 2022

I have just received a parking fine, as others have, for what I thought was a free car park. I rarely go there, but was attracted by the new range of shops, and 4 hours went by in a flash, stopping to have a meal In Mark's. I am appalled at the treatment, and agree with others that I will not be going there again unless it is absolutely necessary. I was planning enjoying my Christmas shopping there, but I will be going into Birmingham on the train instead. How very shortsighted of them to drive shoppers away when we are all tightening our belts! I will pay the fine, but they will lose so much more money! VW.

Aug 23, 2022

I overstayed the 3hour limit as I had a leisurely day out, had lunch and spent quite a lot of money I was flabbergasted to receive a fine on 12 August but for a date 6 Months previous (6 February) surely it cannot be legal to impose a fine 6 months after the event. I will not be shopping there again.

Jul 31, 2022

WAKE UP all you lovely shops on Sears Retail Park! You're supposed to be ENCOURING shoppers to meander and drink coffee, shop, eat lunch and shop a little more. Well congratulations on getting it TOTALLY WRONG! No longer a pleasant experience experience at Sears Retail Park (unless you remember to take an alarm clock with you and set the time, AND limit how much time you spend wandering about spending money!) How can you have got it so wrong in a recession?!!!!!!! Are you hell bent on putting yourselves out of business? Because that's where you're heading! My family have stopped going there to shop now. Pity NO STARS.

Jul 29, 2022

I received a parking ticket for a 10 minute overstay despite being disabled & just having had a shoulder replacement which makes shopping slower when I appealed they said I knew the rules ! there are no signs to state 3 hour max stay, unfortunately as M&S food hall has relocated there I don’t have much choice but to return ! Maybe whoever owns this land should look at a more reputable company to manage their business!

Jul 12, 2022

no signs to say parking limit, received fine in post complete shock! where are the signs to tell us?!!!

May 15, 2022

I rate this car park with 5 starts as it's well allocated, big and easy. But I was shocked to receive a car park fine for parking 3.15 hours. There is no big clear signal regarding that. They need to understand the signalling has to be large amd clear specially if you are driving in! How an earth are you going to read small signs while driving! I have lived in this area 7 years and never had an issue and never was aware of this timing in this car park. The shopping experience is getting more boicotted with the times. From now on its in get what you want and out wherever you go. Spending your money is not important. No wonder retail is suffering while we are trying to keep it going.

Apr 28, 2022

Went on a Sunday afternoon to shop. Had a coffee at Starbucks when we arrived and had lunch at the café in M&S. Was there a total of three and a half hours. Unbeknownst to me, its a 3 hour time limit so I've been hit with a £60 fine. 3 hours is not long enough for the amount of shops and eating facilities; especially when there isn't a way to pay for parking to extend your stay. It's a cash cow for the parking company and it will lose custom for the retailer's.

Apr 27, 2022

Parking ticket was issued 22 days after I parked at Sears, ticket arrived in the post 13 days after the issue date. So just allowing one day to pay to £60. If you pay a after 14 days its £100. Shopping trip day and some lunch was totally ruined by the fine. I wonder if it even legal to take so long issuing ticket and then only allowing one day to pay the £60.

Apr 12, 2022

In full agreement with previous reviews, daylight robbery. Have received a fine and I genuinely had no idea there was a time limit on parking. So many stores to visit, plus lunch/coffee - really easy to overstay. This is going to put off lots of shoppers.

Mar 7, 2022

Shocking small signs and after having food and spent money shopping we realised that we had overstayed and will be fined

Feb 20, 2022

I don't rate it at all been fined 100 pound for shopping its absolutely stupid never new there were parking charges this as got to be shops fault as well as they don't make it clear to there customers I appealed complete waist of time this is a scandal that the goververment needs to address never shop there again sooner travel than give these robbers money

Feb 19, 2022

dont go,daylight robbery.

Feb 16, 2022

Would leave zero stars if I could like many others, spent time genuinely shopping ( I have receipts) with a friend & stopped for lunch, however was then shocked & appalled at receiving a fine for free parking! If there were signs they must be tiny & for such a large retail park a 3hr maximum stay is ridiculous, we overstayed by 22mins & was fined £60 however if I'd have known I'd have kept a closer eye on the time... daylight robbery & I also won't be returning... if you are going to use the retail park beware!

Feb 8, 2022

My wife took my disabled mother for a day out, and lunch in the M&S restaurant. Used Blue Badge for disability. Now received a £100 fine from GroupNexus who operate the carpark stating car was parked over the time limit, and the letter with the fine does not state what the time limit is! A disabled shopper cannot get around the retail park in the time limit. Will never ever shop at Sears again and I'll make sure all friends and family know. Daylight Robbery. They obviously don't want customers.

Feb 7, 2022

I parked up near M&S in order to meet a friend for breakfast. Afterwards I shopped in M&S and Homesense next door. Today I was appalled to receive a parking fine as I was not aware of any NR cameras nor any signs stating the three hour maximum period. Signs should definitely be more prominent! I shall not be returning in a hurry!

Jan 18, 2022

Solihull Retail Park ——————————- After travelling 65 miles to shop with my son who lives in the area we visited many stores curry's for a computer, TKmax, home sense, ect, we then went for coffee cake and a catch up in costa coffee! What a Lovely day we had, as I didn't get to see my son for Christmas! This morning I received a parking fine of £100 for over staying ! I had no idea that I could be fined at a retail park for spending my money! Is this legal or is it a Scam ? If it is legal then shame on them, I will never shop there again.

Dec 3, 2021

I’ve been made to feel like a criminal. I couldn’t get a disabled parking bay as they were taken by other inconsiderate drivers without a blue badge. I had to park by Halfords as I needed extra room so I could get out the car. I visited lots of shops, spent lots of money. As I am disabled an struggle to walk far and quickly my shopping trip took longer than anticipated. It was a busy Saturday and long queues in the shops. I didn’t realise there were parking restrictions. Shocked to receive a £100 parking find. I wrote to Group Nexus twice to appeal and explain my disability and struggles and they didn’t care one bit. Made me pay the fine even though I’d provided a copy of my blue badge and receipts of my shopping. Awful. How these people sleep at night I do not know. Easy way to get easy cash. Daylight robbery!!! Sears Retail park have lost me as a valued customer and shame on you Group Nexus!!!!!

Jun 24, 2021

Do not use this retail park as GroupNexus own this private car park and will fine you for over staying your welcome. There's that many signs people don't see parking warnings. £60-£100 parking fines dished out most days is robbery to these thugs.

Jun 23, 2021

Watch out you can be fined £60-£100 if you stay too long in the retail park. There are cameras clocking you in and out and if take your car in for a service at Halfords and it takes a long time to get done then you will be fined for going over the time limit.

Sep 13, 2018

My niece was in Next today and was made to feel like she was stealing from the shop. She was followed by numerous security guards around the shop. I am absolutely appalled at the way she was treated and will never use your store again. You owe her an apology for the way you made her feel
