Pay machine doesn't work yet the vehicle veg camera's do, they should be ashamed of this money making scheme they have going on
Similar story to everyone else. Confusing signage and received a fine for nothing
I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED BY WHAT I READ HERE AND WHAT HAPPENED TO US. THEY DON'T DESERVE EVEN THE ONE STAR. Parked here on 7th September to visit St Michaels Mount. We are always pretty careful to pay for more time than we need so were happy to pay the 7.50 all day fee. My partner went off to pay and took ages to come back. He said it was difficult to pay because of the sun on the screen. Happily went off for 5 to 6 hours. Two weeks holiday later we come home to a £100 fine. Check the bank account and nothing had been taken so the machine hadn't worked. Looked up the car park on internet and discovered loads of these comments on various sites...machine not working although at first glance it seems to have done so, 10 minutes over time paid for and fine issued , etc etc. No recourse, company not registered with ombudsman, so just thanking goodness we came home before the 14 days allowed to pay the fine as £60 and not the £100. They must be raking it in.
The worst car park I have ever used in 52 years as a driver. The pay station machines are not fit for purpose. The display is unreadable in bright sunshine, the touch panel is hyper sensitive and the instructions are difficult to understand. I input 4 hours three times but it kept reverting to 1 hour. I eventually paid at the 4th attempt but a week afterwards received a penalty notice because I had paid an insufficient fee. Why not produce a ticket on entry which when input into the machine before exit calculates and shows you the correct charge? I will not use this car park again and urge others to take extreme care if they choose to park there.
Used at the end of August '23. Very difficult to see the screen in sunlight. Very difficult to understand the method of calculating the hours used. ( Most ANPR parks tell you!). Miscalculated by 40+ minutes and been stung with £100 fine. This ANPR needs updating (?) to the methods used in almost all others of this type. Feeling rankled and very annoyed.
NO STARS. Disgusting. Paid for a ticket for 2 hours. Got a £100 fine.
AVOID!!! Would prefer to.put no star but that's not possible. We arrived and bought a ticket ...thankfully with my card. A few days later we had a fine for £100. We didn't overstay and had a valid ticket. I contacted the company with a screen shot of my bank payment. Fine instantly withdrawn , but no apology. Will not ever park here again as its taking advantage of many customers who have paid in cash and have no receipt. Repeat....Avoid!!
I live locally and took my children & niece to meet friends at the park / beach. Weather was lovely so the car park was very busy. Rather than park across the road and struggle with 3 kids plus beach gear & body boards I thought I’d wait patiently for a space. After @ 15 mins one became available so I parked and bought my ticket. At the end of my paid time I returned to my car and left only to get a parking ticket a few days later as I hadn’t paid for the time that I was waiting for a space!! Who buys a ticket before they’ve parked!!? These companies are making a fortune out of conning people and land owners like National Trust and St Aubyns Estate are allowing it to happen. You can try and appeal but nobody is interested in personal circumstances so long as they get their money.
Many have said what I confirm you have to be careful on times of entry and exit and to be on safe side just overpay . I was hit with charge after underpayment, in mitigation the signage and the reality if the pay system do not work . This is a serious creditability issue for the StMichaels mount estate and the National Trust . I can only recommend avoid at all costs , use the bus to travel there . Look at alternative parking . If you do park there over pay and cover yourself . This has been one of my worst parking experiences and contrast with other fairer and more accurate systems operated by competitors , sadly the industry is populated by some less ethos and value driven organisations . It is a massive multi million pound business which attracts certain individuals and companies . Warning don't park here if you can avoid it .
Got me also. I paid at the machine by the gate on arrival but clearly it didn't register my number. So £100 fine despite me paying in advance for my stay. Stupidly I've no ticket to prove it. Never ever again.
Worst car park ever used in 35 years not very clear signage that it is anpr
Was very confused to have received a parking fine at this car park as I entered my reg, paid and left within 5 minutes. I appealed with Initial and it was immediately rejected. Have now appealed to POPLA. From reading the reviews on here, it seems maybe the machine doesn’t calculate the amount you have to pay when you enter your reg? Not sure, but this is not how pay-on-exit systems normally work!
As others have said in their many 1-start reviews, AVOID AT ALL COSTS! We also got a 100 quid fine even though we tried our best to pay the amount required for our short visit to St. Michael's Mount.
Agree with all other reviews. Rubbish car park. Terrible signage. Just pulled in for 20 mins to look at view, car park empty didn't notice signage and slapped with £100 fine
On entering, it took a while to find a space adit was very busy. it was confusing about how you pay as various signs said pay on exit and others seem to want you to pay on entering. We were not the only people confused. At the end of our session, we tried to pay at the machine but it wanted us to pay from then on so further hours from that point. We took photos for evidence but a week later was hit by a fine for £100 which they refused to appeal. A big con.
Appalling car park. Paid what the machine asked and I receive a fine! Apparently its stated we choose the amount to pay?? What machine does that when its based on car registration entering and leaving? Appealed but still have to pay! Please avoid. It just scams ppl and makes money from them
I too have received a debtor letter asking for 170 pounds after paying when leaving as the sign indicated.
Appalling - gives no notice that penalties will be applied from the moment of entry to the moment of exit - not from the time a ticket is bought. Draconian penalties for a few minutes over despite having already paid for 5 hrs parking an spending the first 20 minutes waiting for and helping other tourists get their tickets.
This automatic plate recognition system is dangerous and feels highyl unfair: If you stay some minutes too long you drive out without any warning, but then you get fined with 60 to 100 pounds plus administrative fee of 42 pounds from the car rental.
This is the worst car park I have ever been to. It's all gravel and dusty. If you don't pay immediately (takes a few minutes to find a space) in advance after entering the car park you will get fined. If you wish to pay after parking before leaving, the machine won't allow you to pay. I could not use app due to poor network signal (O2). Now I have received notice of 100 pounds fine. Avoid this parking at all costs. There is no way of appealing this to initial parking which runs this. There are a lot of reviews here and on google reviews that support my claim. I am not the first victim of this scam parking company.
The machine charged us too little and we were sent a fine as a result, with no way of appealing it!
Wrote a review which hasn't appeared
Thieves Drove into short stay, no spaces. Drove into long stay, right to the end and back. Parked & waited to pay. Paid for 5hrs. Came back to car not knowing when we had parked. No time stamp on ticket. Thought we may have been 20 mins over which was reasonable not to buy another hour to cover. Got a ticket. Appealed. 3mins later after a "thorough review" appeal rejected. Not sure if the landowner is a pirate but their agents definitely are
Entered car park with horse trailer. Thought arrow on sign was pointing to edge of car park. Parked up, paid and then got told that the arrow is actually pointing to a field across the road. Got £100 fine.
Complete scammers
Just receive a letter stating I had parking fine. Try to appeal was told the reg put in was incorrect as the ticket had HH in the corner of the ticket. From the response I conclude that it should be the first 2 letter of the reg but nothing is written on the ticket to state this was for the reg.
As the other poster said, complete scam. It is managed by Initial Parking instead of NT. They charge for entire duration since car came in and went out, but their parking APP won’t show that. So you may right amount just by chance. Received £60 fine which has increased to £170 and now waiting for court action to sort it out.
Bit of a scam to be honest. We arrived back to our van and the battery was flat, so we had to jump start it. This took a while, then a £100 fine comes through the post a week later. Charges you from the moment you arrive so you need to add extra time to your ticket.
The car park is sneaky, the camera clocks you when you drive in but the ticket machine time is from when you put your money in. You have to make sure you have sufient time on your ticket to cover from driving in to getting your ticket.
Largish car park by beach and close to St Michael's Mount. Large vehicles have to park in grass car park opposite. Monitored by CCTV cameras.
