Don’t use. I paid to park and then received a fine in the post. Clearly a system error,

Nov 22, 2023

I parked in this car park on the 9/11/23 and paid by credit card. I parked again in this car park on 22/11/23 with my daughter in her car. My daughter paid the parking fee via the cash kiosk and asked for a receipt via my mobile. I received a text detailing both parking dates and the parking fee. It is not clear whether this is a receipt or not as it asked me to confirm ‘done’ or ‘ok’ I am not sure what this means so I will contact the company to confirm. To my surprise on returning home a fine was waiting for me for my parking on the 9/11/23. I am also expecting that a fine will also be sent for today’s parking!! I now have to go to the trouble of checking my bank statement and appealing the fine. There has clearly been a system error and it appears from other users that they have experienced similar issues. I am a disabled pensioner and I shouldn’t have to go through this stress.

I live in nearby town and only occasionally visit Halifax. Arrived after 4p.m. Into car park, barriers up and left in less than an hour, again barriers up. I assumed that, after 4 p.m. on a shopping weekday that ticket was not required. I had no warning sign of change of parking payment system and failed to approach a fixed sign to read the small print, hence culpability! I haven’t troubled the business which manages the car park with an appeal against the parking charge notice. Simply paid up. I am still feeling good about my visit to M&S, (reason for parking), for my coffee and new sweater, because it came immediately after my visit to the local hospital’s centre where I was informed that I needed no further treatment. Don’t sweat the little stuff!

New system in place which I was totally oblivious to until I visited in July 2023 , no ticket just pay when you leave , no surprise I forgot half way on leaving , reversing back in to go and pay ! Machine states my reg not recognised tried again same issue so took a photo as PROOF I tried to pay even though the camera would have picked me up reversing back in! Yet got a parking ticket £100 reduced to £60 if I pay within a two week period , I obviously appealed as it was not my intention to not pay , just been informed appeal turned down which is ludicrous and to me shows it’s just another money making revenue for the people of Calderdale which is already been crippled . I personally will never shop in Halifax centre again as I am disgusted at the council of putting in such a convoluted system when there was actually nothing wrong with the one that was in operation previously!

Unfortuntely, it isn't possible to leave a 0 stars review! The system was changed to barrierless CCTV vehicle detection in Jan 2023 and is not always accurate. I started to leave the car park, got as far as the start of the exit lane and realised that I had forgotten to pay. I did not leave the car park but reversed back in and payed at the parking machine. Because I moved the car the system charged me the incorrect amount and also detected me as leaving without paying. Parkmaven then sent me a fine for £100! On appeal this was reduced to £10 to cover their admin as "I had not payed the correct amount" (I could only pay what their system decided to charge me!). Against my principles, I have paid the £10 as I did not get a reciept. Otherwise I would have taken my appeal to POPLA. This is a "robbing" car park, please avoid it if you can, as you might also get stung for the system's errors which are not your fault. There is plenty of council run parking in Halifax to choose from where you don't get ripped off!

Worst parking experience ever. I tried to pay through the App which didn't work. I went to the machine and was told the payment had been made for my registration. Then a few days later I got a £100 fine for non payment through the post. I'm doing my shopping in Leeds from now on.

Absolute garbage. I paid via credit card, said it was accepted then payment not processed later on. Several more complaints via social media at same time. Avoid if at all possible.

Worst experience ever, will not use in future. Did not have card and the machine to pay by cash not working Assistant in office no help just stated ring company to arrange payment over phone,HOW with no card.

I could not believe that l found a reasonably priced car park where you pay as you leave so you don't have to guess how long you will stay and as well as paying by card you could pay by cash and even get change why isn't this available everywhere !!

Bank holiday is meant to be free . But Boxing Day 2020 is Monday 28 th December but the wool shop team decided they didn’t want it to be a bank holiday and charged everyone. After contacting management they said tough !!

Disgusting service Lost parking ticket and staff refused to check registration recognition so I could pay the correct parking fee. Instead they make you pay £10 (max parking charge) regardless of what time you arrive. Registration recognition is only used for people disputing parking fees (apparently) and they will not use it for lost tickets. Scandless! Should be ashamed of themselves. Keep hold of your tickets people otherwise you will be robbed!!!!

Parking at The Galpharm Stadium

Parking around the Stadium is tricky. Very little is available on the Stadium site and street parking is limited around the stadium. The advice is to arrive at the stadium early. There is a number of parking restrictions in place around the stadium and the available parking places fill up very quickly.

Some local business rent out their car-parks on match days, and these with the charge are very clearly marked.

There are three on site car parks: Town Avenue, Bradley Mills and St Andrew's.

Please do not park within either two Retail Parks as you are likely to be fined by the company that operates these facilities.
