Waitrose

I did a big shop (£166.56, then back for flowers (£16), and slightly went over the limit, which I thought was 2hours, by 2mins 55sec. I received a fine of £70, which I have contested by writing to Waitrose Customer Services, with a copy to Britannia Parking Customer Services. I still wait a reply.

this is the worest waitrose parking ever. I had twices over 30 minutes more parking and got fine.

We regularly shop at Waitrose in another town, where the car park is 3 hours max stay. In each bay a 3 is clearly marked in white so there’s no mistaking how long you can park there. At this Waitrose car park, we don’t remember seeing any maximum stay signs and there are no time limits painted on the bays. No problem with the time limit, but it needs to be made clearer as in other Waitrose car parks. We’ll now shop at an alternative supermarket until we estimate Waitrose have lost £40 profit on our business, petty I know but so is whacking parking charges on their paying customers.

Think about the staff, we have to pay out of our pocket to work there

Tight spaces, horribly busy at weekends and I had a nasty surprise when I got a parking fine by post (no notice on my windscreen) as I had inadvertently overstayed the 90 minutes - got carried away with my Christmas shopping and lost track of time. I know that’s not an excuse but I have shopped there regularly for years and spent a fortune in the local shops in Godalming feeling pleased that I was supporting the local businesses. Thanks for nothing Waitrose.
