Eastgate Shopping Centre

Disgusting!!!! Takes a picture of your reg on entering carpark, when it’s time to go you put in your reg no pay with card and go. I did this a few times and got fines as it showed up a ‘shorter time’ spent at the carpark. I could only pay what they ask for with my card - YES I GOT A £60 FINE DUE TO THEIR FAULTY MACHINE…twice..my appeals were declined…watch out definitely a SCAM I’ll never use this carpark again. Will be using ASDA free for 3 hours and more convenient for shopping..

I would love to review but tried to shop in badildon after a period of absence. Attempted to access car park inadvertantly drove into bus lane abandoned attempt to gain access to car park and will not be coming back. Lakeside here I come. Such a shame

What a awful experience! Go back to issuing yellow coins! Queueing for the machine was lengthy and many people have found the new machines hard to understand. Certainly the person in front of me did, she entered her wrongly 3 times and caused the machine to go out of order. I ended up driving out of the car park in disgust. Am awaiting for the fine to come through. Wish me good Luck.

Bus Lane is a joke, no blue signs stating bus lane operating hours, entrance to bus lane is a broken white line which means it's time dependant, there were no signs stating times of operation. My appeal was refused even though the picture and video evidence shows lack of signage. Will not be using Eastgate again.

Absolute joke! Just received a fine for driving through the 'Bus gate' - definitely wont be using this car park again and Basildon council should be ashamed of themselves!

Same as so many before just recieved my fine so be warned, no wonder there was lots of spaces in the car park no one wants to use it. Would like an explanation how we are supposed to enter this car park now they have done this. Shocking I also will not be returning. Only put 1 star as it wouldnt let me review without.

I used to love using this car park but as so many other people have said I got a fine for driving through the bus lane to get there. It should have signs to say no access to car park this way or no through traffic. A small blue sign when I checked footage is not enough. I don’t know how to get to this car park any other way and am scared to go back so will be Lakeside from now on.

Same as all the others. I inadvertently entered the bus lane and could not navigate out of it. If there is a direction sign on how to enter car park 6 it is not readily visible. I have not been to Eastgate for years and always entered via bus garage. Will not be returning as I will obviously be fined in due course. I thought London was bad enough with hidden fines, Basildon is joining it

Didn’t see any signage to tell me how to avoid a bus lane fine to get into this car park. Not having shopped there since before Covid I won’t be returning. Greedy sneaky council lining their pockets with easy money. No wonder Basildon town centre is dying!

I won’t be visiting Basildon again after receiving a fine for driving in the bus lane. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that no one would intentionally do this to get a fine! Make it more obvious!!! Very poor signage, especially as I haven’t shopped in Basildon for years. Shame on the council!

The car park is excellent but I got a fine for accidentally driving in the bus lane. I want to dispute it but am not sure I would have any chance. It makes me feel cheated despite trying to be a law abiding citizen.

Poor signage and now difficult access remodelled and designed to catch out the unwary motorist. Best access now via Sparrows Hern but poor signage for the last 100m on the approach. New signs needed at the junction to indicate access and number of places available.

We accidentally ended up in a bus lane as it is so poorly signposted. Very unfair !!

I agree with the previous reviewer that having changed the road system this car park is now hard to access if you have always approached it past the bus station.

This car park is very poorly signposted at Basildon Town Centre, leading to the danger of filling the borough's coffers via the bus lane cameras on the western approach in Southernhay. There are no signed alternative routes to Car Park 6, at the heart of Eastgate Shopping Centre, merely a succession of No Entry, No Left Turn, Turn Left and Turn Right, and Bus Lane signs ( with camera surveillance). It seems that the redesign of the area has forgotten that Eastgate requires the attendance of the public to thrive, but has omitted to advertise routes to and from the ample car parking spaces surrounding the centre. There is only 1 sign, to the best of my knowledge, indicating the presence of car park 6, and that is on Southernhay westbound, which appears to be accessible only from Broadmayne.
