No wonder my blood pressure was so high when I eventually made my appointment, having had to drive around for nearly 40 minutes to find a space. Appalling and not cheap either.

The worst car parking experience ever. Just so immoral being a Hospital car park

Shame there isn't a zero star option. I require a hand xray & only have a 3say window for this to be done. Yesterday, i spent 45mins driving around & gave up. Today was 27mins which is more than reasonable. 2cars had carpark rage & that was my cue to exit. It's diabolical & I wonder how many people have missed appointments. It's all very easy to suggest take public transport or get a lift, but this is not always a viable option for some.

Getting robbed while you visit your dying family members.

Absolute shambles, I drove around for 45 minutes, could not find a space in time for my appointment which I then had to cancel!!! Appointments lady said that it does happen!! Also had to pay !! What a waste of time and money for the NHS and me . Need to put back the barriers to stop cars coming in when it’s full

Although by some miracle I found a space fairly quickly £4 for 2hrs is disgusting, as depending on what dept you can be waiting for hours

If the car park is full it should have a sign saying it, if there are spaces it should say how many. It's ridiculous trying to find a space going round up and down, I'm going there today. Good luck to me to find a space.

Terrible car park, payment machine is terrible.

Feb 9, 2023

Such an awful car parking experience. Spent ages trying to find a space. I could not see a clear sign telling me if it was full or not ~ so once in you have to drive in and then out again if you can't find a space. Pay meter's are terrible. There are always a queue of people trying to work the machine out. The didgets are way too small to read and quite often the machine does not recognise your number plate. Today on departure there were just six people waiting. Within 5 mins there was a line of 20 people waiting because the machine kept playing up or people were struggling to read the tiny digits. Needs a light above the key pad and also a way to pay with cash

The new payment machines are horrific! 40mins it took to sort out paying £1.50! Then because it took so long to walk up and down levels and eventually pay through an app which I had to download! I ended up paying £3.50! Appalling! This is the second time this has happened now. Bring back the old cash/card payment machines it was much quicker!!!!!!

Absolutely terrible car park. After eventually finding a space and coming back to the car we found most of the payment machines were out of order. The remaining machines had huge queues as they are SO SLOW. The anpr failed to recognise our number plate, the app wouldn't let us pay unless we called someone up first. So awful, next time we will use the road parking and walk that bit further.

Have had frustrating moments trying to park with a registered disabled passenger. Charges are in line with main hospitals. This hospital does originate from several hundred years ago. There is metered on street parking, drop off and pick up zones, regular bus routes, walking distance to main line trains, near by multistorey car parks.

Aug 11, 2022

A few disabled spaces. Supposed to be free but to get the charge refunded you have to walk back to your car, get your blue badge and walk back to reception with it. Absolute nonsense!

Just spent 45 minutes driving round trying to find a space , eventually gave up . On exit i had to pay £1.50 , pressed the help button and explained i had not even parked and the jobsworth attendant wouldn’t let me out so i had to pay , absolutely ridiculous !!!

Dec 29, 2021

Over 20 minutes queuing to get out.

Oct 23, 2021

Don't use this car park. You'll spend so much time trying to find a space, and then so much time trying to get out after your appointment/visit, the bus is quicker and probably cheaper.

Oct 1, 2021

Says free for disabled blue badge holders but no details on how to get out of car park!

Oct 31, 2018

Appalling. Traffic jam within car park with everyone after a space at 9am. Even security/attendant admitted that barriers should not allow anyone in to car park once is full, until some one leaves. Difficult to get outhe inside 15 minutes.

Oct 10, 2018

Would give it no stars if I could ... drove in, joined hordes of others also trying to find a space. Left, unable to find a space. Eventually found a roadside metered space quite a distance away. Arrived at my appointment late and sweaty. Totally inadequate parking provision for a large hospital.

Jul 26, 2018

Poorly designed entrance and not nearly enough spaces for a hospital this size. Disabled bays are mostly full of cars not displaying a disabled badge and security do nothing about it.

Dec 19, 2017

It's ridiculous! Car park is always full! What a stupid place to put a hospital! Right by town centre...

Dec 10, 2017

Even I can’t find a parking space.

Jul 12, 2017

The worst car park I've ever been to. You can't see the 'full' sign until you have entered and then there is no where to turn around so you have to get a ticket and drive around the car park to the exit. Took me 10 mins to get out because it was full of cars doing the same thing.

Not enough parking space . Hospital needs to think about parking space

Parking In Reading United Kingdom

Town centre parking, or parking near the centre will mean charges.

But some areas which are still close to Reading do not have parking restrictions, e.g. Shinfield, Whitley, West Reading (far end of Oxford Road), East Reading (near Sutton's Business Park).

Streets in North Reading/Caversham are usually quite cramped with cars, and at rush hours the bridges over the Thames can be very busy.
